Which is the best IDE version to use with our ADF version

User_AOP80Mar 22 2016 — edited Mar 22 2016

Our development team has been using jDeveloper 11.1.2.4.0 as our IDE for ADF development for almost a year now and we regularly run into hangs and exceptions while using it.  Examples like after starting up jDev, it  hangs for a minute or two before we can start using it. After using jDev for several days it will start to slow down to a point where clicking or typing hangs it up. Certain actions like looking at our Versioning tool Pending Changes tab or starting our integrated WLS would trigger 'An unexpected severe error has occured in JDeveloper'.

These issues seem to occur consistently for our entire team, so it's not just isolated to one instance of jDev.

Our ADF legacy apps are using ADF version 11.1.2.4.39.64.36.1 on Weblogic 10.3.6 so we need to stick to this version of ADF for a while.

If I go into jDev/Help/Check for Updates, I see that 12.1.3.0 is available and 11.1.1.9.0 (which lower than 11.1.2.4, not sure why it shows up as an update).

My question is whether we can use our ADF version(11.1.2.4.39.64.36.1) with one of these updates?

Would using the Enterprise Pack for Eclipse be a viable option?  If so, which version would work with ADF version(11.1.2.4.39.64.36.1)?

Any input would be appreciated!
