which is faster - connecting through tnsnames.ora or basic ?

Hi,

Very basic question, that I came through in a recent situation when dealing with a high volume data loading situation.

I can configure to connect using tnsnames.ora.

I can also connect to a oracle server without the tnsnames.ora file by directly specifying the host name port no etc.

Which of these two methods turn out to be faster ? or is there any difference at all ??

please suggest.
