where do the files go?

Hi, I'm new to oracle. I downloaded the 10g express edition and am just beginning working with it. It's a bit different then I picured it being... I created a few tables via the database homepage, but I'm not sure where the files are located. Probably a stupid question I know, but I have no clue. Are they on my computer or are they on an oracle server somewhere?
