when timeout, it cancels the approval request. how to overcome this

hi,

I have made a timeout in my Approval-Request notification and transition going to the reminder notification , then again back to Approval-Request notification.

every thing is working fine. But when timeout, system sending Cacel information also, that means my main Approval-Request Notification is been canceled.
If the Approval-Request Notification is canceled, then how can the Approver approve or reject .

How can i overcome this.
