When re-installing, it already sees java, but will not uninstall
843804Mar 11 2003 — edited Mar 14 2003i had some problems with browser downloads and playing video clips. uninstalled java. downloaded current version J2SE v1.4.1_02 and then ran the executable. the installshield wizard gave the message: "You already have the Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.1_02 installed on this machine. Would you like to uninstall it?" I then click OK. It then tries to uninstall it, but i can still see the Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.1_01 and SE v1.4.1_02 in the add or remove programs in the control panel. i'm running xp professional. when i try to uninstall using add or remove programs, it just blinks the screen and does nothing. i've tried rebooting and then removing, but i get the same results.
now, when i try to run a video clip, it says i need to install java and clicking on the link brings me to the java website and i run into this problem.
any help or documentation i can get to resolve this problem would be greatly appreciated. thank you.
