What version should I install?

Hi,
I want to install ODAC (inc ODP), but don't know which version, as we currently have both Oracle 9i and 10g databases. Are they backward compatible? ie Should I just install the latest version of ODAC? Or can I install more than one version on the same machine?
Also I currently have Oracle client (version 9.2?) on my machine; should I uninstall this before installing ODAC?
