What's the meaning of sorts(rows) ?

Hello , what's the meaning of 'sorts(rows)' in dynamic view v$statname ? What's the difference compared with 'sorts (memory)' and 'sorts (disk)' ? Im confusing .Please make an explanation for me .. Thanks .
