what's the difference between jdk1.x..x and j2sdk1.x.x?

What's the difference between using jdk and j2sdk? I got Forte CE to set Java Home and work just fine on Mandrake Linux. I can't seem to get set Java Home and get Forte CE working with J2sdk?

I had this problem with J2ee SDK and got it figured out as discussed here:

I am just wondering if this is a similar problem. Also, can I download jdk1.4.0 and not j2sdk? Where can I locate the download for jdk1.4.0 only?
