what's the difference between end date and disable a segment

1037794Sep 3 2013 — edited Sep 5 2013

Hi all,

what's the difference between end date and disable a segment, e.g. a cost centre in Oracle?

As far as I know,

a) segment values are made effective by ticking an enabled check box

b) segment values are made effective for a defined period of time by using a date in the start or end date fields

disabling segments means they are disabled until they are manually enabled again, whereas end dating makes the value effective for a limited period of time by entering a start date and end date.

But technically, any difference between the two in terms of impact on financial system?

Thanks,

Eddie
