What is the recommended value of pct_increase on tables and tablespaces

Hi all.

SQL> select * from v$version;

BANNER
----------------------------------------------------------------
Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.4.0 - 64bit Production
PL/SQL Release 9.2.0.4.0 - Production
CORE 9.2.0.3.0 Production
TNS for Solaris: Version 9.2.0.4.0 - Production
NLSRTL Version 9.2.0.4.0 - Production

SunOS rcworaprd 5.9 Generic_112233-07 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-480R

What should I set the pctincrease value to? I see some blogs mention 0 or 100 so we have nice even extents, others just mention to adjust accordingly. What we are seeing right now is:

I will set the next extent on MFG.TBL_REQUIREMENT_CLONE to 5M and pctincrease to 50 (Its the Increase size by % parameter in OEM storage tab)... last night we had a batch job run and we were seeing errors in the alert log for it:

ORA-01653: unable to extend table MFG.TBL_REQUIREMENT_CLONE by 1005309 in tablespace USER_DATA

And when I check the MFG.TBL_REQUIREMENT_CLONE it has next extent set to 1005309K, not the 5M.

Any advice on why this is happening would be appreciated.

Thanks
