What is the proper usage of the hot banding parameter?

The Vdbench 5.04.01 guide discusses the Hot Banding feature along with SD concatenation, however it does not outline how to use the parameter I found its usage in another script online, but I'm not clear on how to use the parameter seekpct=rand,hotband=(80,88).

My desired use case is to make multiple passes to a SD (or group of SDs) ideally with a defined skew for spacial locality.
