What is the Disadvantage of creating views

Hi all

What is the Disadvantage of creating views, are there any effect on the performance ?
specially when using multi-tables join , grouping, sorting, functions calling ..etc

Is it right when you update or insert into a table which is used by a view, it will take more time than the table with no views depend on
(( because of updating the view data)) ???
