What is the different of XML DB and RDBMS?

Hi all,

I am learning XML DB now.
but i have some questions that trouble me much.

1. what is the different that XML DB and Oracle RDBMS?

2. the performance issue, when use XML DB at production system, is there any performance problems and what are the problems?

3. is it suitable to use pure XML DB at core banking system?
