what is the difference between regular controlfile and standby controlfile

Hello All,

One of my friend asked me this question. What is the difference between standby controlfile and regular controlfile. We know that we have to create a standby controlfile to setup standby database, but what are the differences between the two.

I tried looking out Datagaurd Concepts guide. But, no luck.
