What is the difference between ODI IKMs

Hi All,

          I am trying to understand difference between IKMs and how they differ in working.

e.g. What is the difference between IKM SQL Control Append vs IKM SQL to SQL Control Append

If I explore details for them they seems to have same set of commands(14 each), so I wonder how they are different and in what situation I should use one or another.

Also when I use one of them in interface, and exploring operator for execution details(after running interface), I can see only 4 commands (out of 14) were used.

So how & where is it decided which command to use ? and how can we manipulate the KM so that we decided which command to execute & what to skip ?

Any pointer in this direction would be great help.
