What is OMS?

Have Database 9.2.0 on Linux and DB Client ver.9.2.0 on WinNT. Trying to import DB (exported from 8i) but the Enterprise Manager asks for a connection to Oracle Management Server (OMS). What is it?

What are other ways to do import/export except for using OEM?
