what is JOIN INDEX property ?

Hi all,

When I open any table in Oracle SQL Developer on INDEX tab , these is a option “JOIN INDEX” by default value is "No",

Any one has idea what is this actually, and it may affect any performance issue during table joins.

And how we modify this option if this may impact during table joins.
