What is a guru?

410461Dec 3 2003 — edited Dec 5 2003
Hi there,

Some of you here might be considered by their peers as 'database gurus', 'oracle gurus', even though maybe you know that there still remains a steep learning/experience curve ahead of you before considering yourself as a so-called guru.

I'd like to get your input as to what a guru would have on her/his resume.

And, what would be a good path for an individual who wants to become an Oracle guru and someday charge a few hundred bucks an hour on consulting jobs ;)

My thoughts:
- Computer Science degree
- Excellent networks / OS knowledge and experience
- Programming, DBA experience
- Good analyst (UML, ERD)
- All current OCP certifs (9i, 9iAS, Forms6i, JDev)
- Active in some forums, submits articles, etc
- Good presentation skills
- Does not think he knows everything

What do you think?
