For a long time I thought "Additional information" messages were Oracle's way of listing system errors. But there appears to be no rhyme or reason to them. For example:
ORA-27047: unable to read the header block of file
Linux-x86_64 Error: 25: Inappropriate ioctl for device
Additional information: 1
or
ORA-27048: skgfifi: file header information is invalid
Additional information: 13 (no accompanying Linux-x86_64 Error)
or
ORA-27037: unable to obtain file status
Linux-x86_64 Error: 2: No such file or directory
Additional information: 3
etc.
I trust the "Linux-x86_64 Error" messages. But sometimes they don't appear and all I get is an "Additional information" message. These messages appear in alert log and trace files. Does anyone know what they mean?
Thanks,
