What do you need to get Oracle XE, APEX 3.1.2 printing working?

Hi

We have an Oracle XE installation using APEX 3.1.2 and would like to be able to print interactive reports. My understanding is that I need a print server configured but the Oracle XE instance uses the built in PLSQL gateway. The application cannot justify the expense of licencing Application Server so my question is what other solutions are possible? Searching the forum suggests installing OC4J standalone but I believe this requires an Oracle Application Server licence.
