What do iostat hard errors and transport errors mean?

PaisleyMar 9 2011 — edited Aug 20 2013
Can anyone give me some insight into the following output from iostat

-bash-3.00# iostat -En c1t5d0
c1t5d0 Soft Errors: 0 Hard Errors: 5 Transport Errors: 8
Vendor: FUJITSU Product: MAN3735F SUN72G Revision: 0704 Serial No: 0305V94190
Size: 73.41GB <73407865856 bytes>
Media Error: 0 Device Not Ready: 0 No Device: 1 Recoverable: 0
Illegal Request: 0 Predictive Failure Analysis: 0

Obviously there are 5 hard errors and 8 transport errors, but what does that normally mean? Reseat the drive to fix? Run fsck? How many errors are acceptable before needing to become concerned?
