What caused sudden SSL Connection Error?

Kim2012Sep 2 2015 — edited Sep 2 2015

Hi all,

Here's a good one.  One day a few weeks ago, my production Apex app wouldn't start (It's been working successfully for a long time.  Nothing changed that day).  The error provided by Chrome was "SSL connection error".  I'll fast-forward through a lot of troubleshooting, but at this point, the app will not start from any PC or Mac Book (unless in development mode) when connected to my cable modem's network (wired or wireless).  The app will start over that network, however, when using an iPad or iPhone.  When using any other network and any other device, the app works.  My cable-based ISP denies responsibility because the app will start on some devices, including their own. My Apex server company denies responsibility because the app starts for them.  Yes, it's the ever-popular tech support finger-pointing game!

Requiring a solution, I switched Apex hosting companies and now all works as before.

As a service to the Apex hosting company that I dropped, please see the following error messages from three different browsers.  If you have any ideas what the problem is, please let me know.  If it’s related to the hosting company, I’ll forward the info to them.

==> INTERNET EXPLORER

Turn on TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2 in Advanced settings and try connecting to https://app.tallygenie.com again. If this error persists, contact your site administrator.

[The settings mentioned above were confirmed to be set.]

SSL connection error

ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR

BTW, I'm using Apex 5.0.1 running on an Apex hosting company called MaxApex.

Here's the URL that won't work when connecting: https://app.tallygenie.com/apex/f?p=88888
