What are the rules pertaining to duplicate object names between pages in an application?

Ethan PostAug 15 2020 — edited Aug 15 2020

Looking for the rules pertaining to object names. Here are some of my findings and questions.

Looks like text fields and likely other objects can not share the same name on different pages within the same application. i.e. PAGE 1 can not have textbox FOO and PAGE 2 also have a textbox called FOO.

Looks like button names can be duplicated between pages and region names also. I have not tested all the possibilities here.

Is there a link to docs which specify what can and can't be duplicated by name?

Convention appears to be to put P${PAGE_NUMBER}_ in the name. Also looks like copy page action is smart enough to spot that and change accordingly on the new copy of a page.

However, does this work if P${PAGE_NUMBER} is in the middle of a name, at the end? Just trying to figure out how this works.

Thanks for any help you can provide. I really want to better understand these things.

Regards,
