VM Thread takes around 25% of CPU

Hi,

I had observed using prstat command for the java process, that the VM thread thread takes around 20 - 25% of CPU. Below is the stack dump (got by executing kill -3 on the java process) of the java process especially that particular JVM thread:

"VM Thread" prio=5 tid=0x0036be20 nid=0xb runnable

I could not get any further information regarding that thread. I would like to know the purpose of this thread and why does it really take so much of CPU?

Hope I've made sense!!!

Thanks
- Siva
