I have the following software installed.
- VS 2015 with update 3 installed.
- Oracle client 11.2.03, both 32 and 64 bit.
- ODT with ODAC, version 11.2.03.2, 32 bit.
- ODP.NET added to solution through NuGet.
When I bring up the Entity Data Model Wizard and choose EF Designer from database, I get a choice to make a New Connection or use a connection to connect to the database. The drop-down box shows no connections, though I created a connection to Oracle successfully in Server Explorer.
I choose New Connection and get a dialog with 2 choices of Microsoft connections and <other>. I pick <other> and the only Data Provider showing is .NET Framework Data Provider for SQL Server.
We got it to work on a virtual machine where we did a fresh install to mirror our PC's, and those Oracle connectors popped right up. We have 3 laptops for developers on which the connectors won't show, no way, no how.
Can you please suggest something we can try? I will be happy to give more specifics if they are requested.
One question I had about the ODAC installation... What is the purpose of the SQL Scripts that you are asked to run on the very last step? What good would it do to run these on our server, when this is a client installation?
Thanks,
Dan
