Our Information Security team is telling us we need to be running Antivirus software on our Oracle Linux hosts. My
impression was that one needs to run virus software on Oracle Linux hosts only if
using them to store Windows files. That however, that may be outdated thinking.
Can someone please help me with the following?
1) Is it necessary to run antivirus software on Linux hosts that are not hosting any Windows files? If so, what for?
2) If #1 above is yes, then does Oracle have any A/V software recommendations?
3) Does anyone recommend any particular A/V software based on experience?
4) Are there any A/V products that can be managed from the command line, rather than requiring a GUI?
I know I asked a lot of questions above. I really appreciate any help in this area.
