VirtualBox Host-Only Network Has Replaced My WiFi Adapter?

2888665Jun 3 2015 — edited Mar 1 2017

I am running VirtualBox 4.3.28 on 64-bit Windows 8.1. Both VirtualBox and Windows appear to be running successfully.

When viewing the Windows Network and Sharing Center I came across something curious:

VBox Issue.JPG

My WiFi adapter has been disabled, however I am most definitely connected to my network and able to access the internet. If I try to right-click on my WiFi adapter to "Enable" it, nothing happens.

It seems as though the VirtualBox Host-Only Network is providing my (Ethernet) network connection...even though VirtualBox is not running at this time. That doesn't make sense.

Can someone please explain what's going on here?
