VIP on Oracle Data Guard

Hi,
Is it possible to set up a VIP on the environment where we have a Oracle dataguard(Physical Standby)? I mean we have a physical standby configuration and we wanted to configure VIP on top of two DBs(Primary and Standby) in case if failover occurs.Is this advisable on database side?
