VIP Failover mechanism

Hi All,

How does VIP failover happens? What exactly is done in the background?

I have read many articles and Metalink but not able to find a good explanation of the process in the background.

I want to know how VIP fails over to another node keeping its IP address same on the another node. Does it change MAC address?
