Video Card configuration (ATI All-in-Wonder 128 Pro)

Hi all,

I am trying very hard to configure my Video card (ATI All-in-Wonder 128 Pro) on Solaris 8 for Intel. I did everything which I knew but couldn't succeed. Following are the steps which I performed:

1. Started installation from Solaris 8 CD-1. Did not configure Video card (bypassed it by pressing F4).

2. After CD-1 was successfully installed, rebooted the system, and bypassed the Video configuration again.

3. Was prompted to insert CD-2, which I did and completed the installation.

4. Rebooted the system and bypassed the Video setting yet again.

5. Copied and unzipped the patches in /var/spool/patch directory.

6. Added the patches in this order:

patchadd /var/spool/patch/110959-01
patchadd /var/spool/patch/109401-07

7. Changed the video setting by kdmconfig to ATI RAGE 128 / RAGE 128 Pro 32MB, but did NOT test it (bypassed it again).

8. Rebooted the system.

I expected to get the work done this time, but disappointment again. So, I had to change the Video card to 16-color.

I got one improvement than the previous install. This time, I got the CDE login-window where I entered my root password to login. It means that Solaris-8 has been installed properly. My only problem now is to configure my Video card.

Does anybody has any suggestions on the problem? I suspect that there are some bugs with these patches. Any comments/recommendations from people at SUN?

Thanks,

Shakeel
