Version control using SVN on Oracle BI Publisher reports

P RamosFeb 6 2012
Can anyone provide recommendations on the following scenario?

We are currently using Subversion to track versions of Oracle BIP reports. To track changes in each BIP report, we perform an archive of each report object (.xdo.catalog or .xdm.catalog file format), check it into subversion and check out (and commit the changes). We currently don't have catalog manager(but there is a planned install to utilize this with SVN.) We currently deploy using the unarchive task in OBIEE Presentation Svcs. We are on OBIEE 11.1.1.5.

Has anyone experienced any issues when archiving pieces of the web catalog file ? (.catalog) e.g. corruption. I read the simple version control blog entry from Rittman Mead but I have not seen other posts where people are tracking individual report objects in a .catalog file.

Blog post: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=rittman+mead+obiee+svn&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CC8QFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.rittmanmead.com%2F2009%2F01%2Fsimple-version-control-for-obiee-using-subversion-visualsvn-server-and-tortoisesvn%2F&ei=_hcwT67WB-Te2QXduOD0Dg&usg=AFQjCNG7ffnsl8ViQ4FslmWNSEwJQphpdw

Would like to get some recommendations.

Thank you.
