Variables to declare for a cron job using shell script

We have Oracle 11g database. I wanted to understand what are the variables to declare in a cron job which are essential. I mean the variables like ORACLE_SID, ORACLE_UNQNAME, ORACLE_HOSTNAME, JAVA_HOME etc. The cronjob has to execute a query and email the results.

I hope, I have been able to explain my query.
