Value param too long

Hi Folks
Has anyone had the following error and know of a resolution?

Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.

mod_plsql: /pls/apex/wwv_flow.accept HTTP-400 Value param too long. Length is 235784. Upper limit is 32512

I have a number of items and have entered a really big string to test a length validation.

Apex Version 2.2.0.1
DB : 10.2.0.1
AS : 10.1.2

I'd love to hear from anyone who can offer an explanation
