V$INSTANCE

Hi ;
I've a procedure with this statement:
select version from v$instance.
I can't compile this procedure because i get the error message:
ORA-00942: table or view not found
I tried to give a select privilege but if tried this i get his error message:
ORA-02030: On fixed tables/vies only select statments allowed.

What should i do?
