UWC (2005Q1) messages appear BLANK in Moz Thunderbird 1.0.x

We have latest UWC public patch applied -- 2005Q1.
Messages compose email via UWC can be read via recipients on UWC -- and Outlook.
recipients with Thunderbird do NOT see TEXT.
If UWC sender includes text body, vCard, and signature -- the Thunderbird recipient only sees vCard (ie. text and sig missing).
If Tbird recipient does "view source", the text is there -- something about the UWC encoding is causing the problem.
I would assume this is an issue with UWC -- and not Thunderbird.
of course, when Microsoft would release crappy / buggy code that would cause end-user problems and/or integration issues, they always deflect blame and assume everyone else will "fix the problem".
