utl_http web service invokation synchronous/asynchronous

Hi,

i am using successfully UTL_HTTP to call a web-service. (Oracle 11.1.0.7) Since some time I get transfer time out errors, which signals that the WS call is performed synchronously. Is there a way to perform it asynchronously?
