UTL_FILE_DIR parameter value

Hi,

I have a problem with Oracle PL/SQL. The Oracle resides in UNIX operating system.I need to read records from UNIX operating system files but need to present the data in Excel files.

So, I need to know whether it is possible to set the value of UTL_FILE_DIR parameter in the init.ora file to a UNIX as well as WINDOWS directory? Is it really possible to write to a Excel file in Windows operating system when Oracle is installed in UNIX operating system?

I got stucked here. So I really need your help.
