USPS API Integration

Hi everyone I was hoping someone could assist me with an API issue. My requirement is to validate addresses as the end user inputs the information in the application. 1.) USPS API integration the best option? If not, please send additional information. 2.) Any great Restful webservice tutorials that might help? Thanks in advance. My APEX version 5.0.4.
