Using the hidden parameter _gby_hash_aggregation_enabled

2989048Jul 10 2015 — edited Jul 10 2015

Hello all,

Recently we have upgraded our 9i database to 11g and what we see is that a hole lot of SQL return with a random sortering. At least not the same as on 9i.

Then we came across the parameter _gby_hash_aggregation_enabled  when we use this everything was back to normal. Problem solved you would say. Well, our network controllers are not happy with this fix. They are affraight that oracle will disable this parameter in a future upgrade. Is there anybody who has a statement of Oracle wich garanties that the parameter does not disappear. at least for the next 2 upgrades or so... we are going to change the sql but not all at once.

Or maybe some one has a way to set a default order by for all query's. We have around 1000 query's wich don't have a order by (yes i know this is not the best programming, things grow in 10 years) it will take the team 4 months to change all software. So i hope somebody has a great idea

best regards,

Ton
