Using pct free to determine data file size

BeefStuNov 13 2017 — edited Nov 14 2017

Versions 11.2.0.4  12.1 12.2

I have been noticing a trend when a capacity alert comes in  too much space is used to resize or create data files. I've been told autoextend has been suggested several times but has never been officially approve.

Perhaps a SQL or procedure that takes in a percentage ie 10,15,20 of how much free space should be in a tbs and return a value ie 500m, 10gb.. that will be needed to add or resize data files to get to that percentage.

Your thoughts and examples would be appreciated.

I'm starting with this and know it must be changed

round(100 * ( (df.totalspace - tu.totalusedspace)/ df.totalspace))
