Using Google's SMTP Server with Hyperion Planning

Tinotarantino-OracleMay 2 2017 — edited May 3 2017

If you have a gmail account you can use Google's portable SMTP server instead of having to manage your own outgoing mail server.

Google's SMTP server requires authentication, so I though this would work with Hyperion Planning (11.1.2.4). I have Use SSL and Use Authentication checked (see below)

However, this configuration is NOT working from Planning. I've tried both task list notifications and and Workflow promotion notifications with no luck. Yes, I've enabled

notification in File->Preferences and defined a valid e-mail account (just using one e-mail account for testing). I don't see any

error's in the foundation or planning logs, so I don't have any diagnostics to go on right now.

If anyone has tried this configuration successfully, please let me know.

FYI:

To rule out any firewall issues, I manually tested outbound e-mail connectivity manually from our Hyperion Foundation Server (Oracle Linux 6.8) using openssl.

This worked as expected.
