Using ChainSaw to see log4j messages with OIM

618292Mar 13 2008 — edited May 21 2008
I have recently been educated by one of my peers on how to use Apache's ChainSaw as a desktop application to review log4j messages. I have found this VERY useful for getting messages from OIM in a queryable form at my workstation. It is particularly nice to get a consolidated log from clustered servers.

This also allows us to turn down the logging level for the server based log but still get all the debug info at my workstation.

The configuration was relatively simple. I can share the details if anyone is interested. We even got it working to get the last 10000 messages from the App server on launch.

Is anyone else using ChainSaw?
