Using ADRCI to maintain files

Harry MichealsOct 29 2019 — edited Oct 30 2019

Hello,

My group is looking in to using ADRCI to maintain our trace, incident, alert, etc files to eliminate the batch jobs that we currently have.  Using a test environment I changed the shortp_policy to 24 and the longp_policy to 48.  Yes, the ADR Home is pointing to this specific region.

*************************************************************************

ADRID                SHORTP_POLICY        LONGP_POLICY         LAST_MOD_TIME                            LAST_AUTOPRG_TIME                        LAST_MANUPRG_TIME                        ADRDIR_VERSION       ADRSCHM_VERSION      ADRSCHMV_SUMMARY     ADRALERT_VERSION     CREATE_TIME

It appears that the trace files are being purged successfully as I only have 2 days worth of files.  I would assume this is the same for incident files, but none are really generated on this system.

What I can't figure out is how ADRCI maintaines both versions of the alert logs, the regular one and the xml.log.  Both files continue to grow and have over 48 hours worth of data.  Can anyone shed some light on how ADRCI manages these files?

We are running Oracle 12.2 on HP-UX.  We are current with our patchsets.

Thanks,

Harry
