Using a User_Defined Activity in 11g to Call DMExpress or Syncsort Program

Has anyone been successful in setting up a User_Defined Activity in a process flow to call a DMExpress or Syncsort program? I know I can call a batch script that executes DME from a UD Activity, but I haven't been able to able to call an individual DMExpress (.dmx) program as a UD activity. My problem/challenge is to be able to look at OWF for job log or output results without having to go out of Oracle to do this.
