username, password and host string for sql

hi,
i have just installed oracle9i database on my pc.
and when i start to use sql plus it asks for username, password and host string
pls help me out wht should i enter in the fields......

i have tried out scott/tiger as well as system/manager bt it gives tns protcol error!

its a bit annoyin coz i have started studying for oracle9i oca certification and i want to practice it but i cant because of this problem

pls help me out guys!
