user SYSTEM lacks CREATE session privilege :ORA-01045

I logged on as SYSTEM/MANAGER on my laptop running on Windows 2000 and was able to connect . I was able to grant roles and privileges to another user without any problem.
The next day I tried to log on as SYSTEM/MANAGER and got this error message ORA-01045: user SYSTEM lacks CREATE session privilege;logon denied .
I have been connecting as SYSTEM/MANAGER before without any problem. I tried to grant CONNECT to SYSTEM while logging on as
SYS but this didn't work.
Please can you help!
