user not found

Created users on the directory server. But couldn't get the user to access mail server. I am using JES 2006Q1.
Users are created by ldapmodify command.

Following is in the imap log:

imapd: Account Notice: badlogin plaintext user not found.

I seems included all the necessary objectclasses and attributes for user's email.

Not sure where to check the problem could be.
