User authentication and LDAP authentication in Security

Hi,

I am new to obiee pls explain what is different between user authentication and LDAP authentication in Security(Admin tools)

Created one user account with user name and password in security->user->newuser. and created one user account with user name and password security->LDAP

what is different between both of them. Both are same authentication only. pls explain.
