Use of Temporary Tables

Need suggestion.

i am a developer of MS SQL Server and as u may know that MS SQL Server allows usage of temporary tables in its procedures and functions very easily. the use of temporary tables helps performing some extra functions on Fetched Data i.e. Checking Aggregate results (which needs not to be sent to user) of details fetched.

the purpose of my question is whether Useage of Temporary Tables allowed, recommended and feasible in Oracle 11g or there is another way of achieving such a result.
