Use database suppression in form has negative effect

I have a large form which takes ~11 seconds to load.

I checked the 'Use database suppression' checkbox in the form layout > Grid Properties > Rows, and it loaded in 17 secs.

So it was slower!

Any thoughts on how I can use this option effectively are appreciated.
